Cakes!

Today my friends and I hosted a baby shower for our friend Nicole who is due the beginning of March. Typically for our gatherings I make the cake. For the two baby showers we have had in the last year or so I tried to get a little more creative. While I enjoy making the cakes, it is stressful because I put so much pressure on myself for them to be perfect. It's a lot of work but the end result is usually worth it, while I am no Ace of Cakes I do try my best. Here are photos of two of the cakes I have made including the secret recipe to make the most scrumptious cake!

1 box of yellow cake mix
1 packed of vanilla Jello (not made just the powder)
4 eggs
3/4 cup water
3/4 cup canola oil

I was told you can add 1/2 a cup of rum and lessen the water and canola oil to 1/2 a cup but I have yet to try that! However, I did use the above recipie for the cake today and it was delish!

Wow! Those are beautiful, I'm happy if I can just get the cakes out of the pans in one piece!

I've been following your blog for a couple of months, and even passed on a few posts to my mom because I like the way you talk about the challenges of waiting, but still remain positive.

Recently, I tracked back through your archives and discovered we are working with the same agency (and Laura)!

Anyway, just wanted to reach out and say thanks for writing!

Hi Donna! That is too funny that we are working with the same agency and Laura! I really hope your process is going well, do you have a blog?

p.s. Thanks for following!

Donna

We had a set back this weekend - we were matched back in November, but just found out they have decided to parent, so we are back in the waiting pool. We are disappointed of course, but trying to remain positive. It will happen for us one day, this just wasn't it.

We do have a blog, but we keep it kind of private, do you have an email address I can send it to?

Hi Donna,

If you are comfortable our e-mail is coreysinma@hotmail.com but I understand if you want to keep it for close friends and family.

Terribly sorry about your set back, you guys must be really dissapointed but it will happen again soon I am sure!

Take care,

Danielle

A girl after my own heart!!! I completely understand the pressure of perfection and have recently declared myself "retired" from the cake business until I'm done with my Master's program. It was getting a little out of hand with so many requests.

Seeing your cutie cakes, though, makes me want to jump back in. They're ADORABLE!!!!
