11 days from now our daughter will be born via c-section!!!! We had a lovely conference call today when we found out that our little one's birthday will be June 7th. We are crazy excited/nervous etc...it will be great. We have already booked our flights, car and hotel and now we just get everything else ready to travel. Everything has just fallen into place, the exact flights we had been watching were cheaper than I have seen them in weeks! Our friends and family have been so supportive and encouraging and have made this time even more special for us. We feel so grateful for everyone and how great this process has been.
If any one has an suggestions for must have travel items for baby we welcome recommendations!

so you guys are gonna be there for the birth?!
and you're flying...hmmm. carseat on plane or @ least in your car @ airport (if you can have a carseat tech check the installation prior all the better - we weren't able to til he was nearly a month old and we had a 3 hour drive home w/ him in snow!) :/ guy why is it hard for me to think back to newborn... our hospital gave us ready to feed bottles but you'll want to somehow have food for your princess on the way home! diapers and wipes. blankets/swaddles (that's really what the necessary wardrobe is at that point) :) paci? hat- good to keep heads covered at that new age- they lose so much heat. oh, just remembered that of course for the carseat baby needs to be in something weather appropriate w/ legs so not the swaddle for that. burp cloths/ maybe wet wipes. oh, i bet you have to stay in that state for awhile tho don't you??? well that's a whole nother story! whoops. well, hopefully this helps somewhat. how long will you have to stay? love and excitement!!!! ~rachel
Yes we will be there for the birth! We are flying, will have a rental car and have to stay in state probably around a week. Thanks for the suggestions VERY helpful! :)
wow!!!
i guess mainly, even tho my list looks rather long, newborns don't need much...i'm sure you'll overdo it as i did!! ;-) hey that's part of the fun :)
How exciting! It sounds like Rachel has it covered with great suggestions. How about sleeping? You can get this foldable thing that you put in your bed, in-between you and your husband where the baby can sleep safely. Depending on how long you must stay with the baby, take little bit of baby wash and washcloth in case you need to give her a little sponge bath. Also, pre-wash your clothing, onesies, blankets, etc... with D.r.eft or some other mild detergent. Best of luck, and I will be anxiously waiting for news!
I love the Mobi and Maya wraps. They make long walks through airports a cinch. The mobiwrap is completely cloth, with no metal, so I believe that the detectors at the airport are friendly to them.
I have a very helpful list if you want me to email it to you! We mainly kept him in sleepers the whole time because he was swaddled up anyways, so I wouldn't waste space with a bunch of different outfits. I think we brought 7 sleepers, and 4 or 5 gowns, which are the BEST for nighttime diaper changes! We only brought 4 bottles which was a big mistake, bring at least 6 or 7! It took us 4 bottles just to get thru the night so waking up and having him scream because he was hungry, but not having any clean bottles...wasn't fun. The hospital will give you some to get started which is nice, and they will give you diapers and wipes too. Bring a paci, or two. A hooded towel and a few washcloths. Lots of bibs and burp cloths. A couple heavier blankets. I think everything else you need you can pick up when you get there. They really don't need much but at least you will be prepared with the basics. If you want to email me, I will forward you the packing list that was forwarded to me from other bloggers. It was very helpful!
