Well folks it's official; we have been matched! The biggest change in our life started March 24th (which would have been my Mums 66th Birthday) when we were informed that a couple was really interested in our profile. For a week we waited patiently for updates and on March 31st we were asked if we would like to have a conference call with them on April 1st. No, it wasn't an April fools! We of course did want to speak with them and we had a lovely conversation for about 30 minutes. They asked us some really great and challenging questions, I was so nervous my entire body was shaking! At the end of the call we were asked to hang up so the couple could give feedback to the agency. We were told the agency would call us back just to let us know how things went and if they had any more questions...what happened next was NOT expected! Less than 15 minutes later the agency called us back and informed us that the couple had asked if we would like to move forward with the adoption!!! Wow! We are over the moon...words cannot describe how excited and blessed we feel. Assuming everything goes as planned (which we pray it will and truly feel like it will) we are expecting a baby girl June 16th :) I am going to be a Mum!
Over the course of the last week I have had some many questions/scenarios going through my silly head...I cannot stop thinking. I have just got to sit back and enjoy the ride and let everything happen as it's supposed to. There are so many unknowns and for me, a planner, it is hard to not get straight answers. For now we have signed our contract, been switched to "MATCHED" on the website and will try to wait patiently (yeah right) until the next call. I think the next call with the birth family will be helpful so that we can get their thoughts on the birth plan and next steps.
We have told our family and friends, everyone is thrilled! We have been talking about this for so long that it just feels so wonderful to be lucky enough to finally have news :)
I don't know all the lingo to write about our experience, I see on other blogs you use certain acronyms and/or periods between certain words. If anyone has the adoption writing rule guide please send it my way ;)
