Home Study (2008)

On June 27th Dr. Laura Nemeyer our social worker came over for part one of our home study in June, she did a tour of our house (which she said reminded her of an English cottage!) and interviewed me. She will interview David in a couple of weeks and then prepare our write up. The meeting was pretty simple, she basically asked me about my life, which of course anyone who knows us knows that it really isn't that simple but it is full of joy and fun. She asked about our family and friends and what we enjoy doing etc...she is incredibly caring and kind and made the whole meeting very easy. It was almost like I was sitting down with an Aunt sharing stories. It's really beginning everyone, David and I are adopting a baby! :)

On July 16th David and I headed to Somerville to have the second part of our interview. Dr. Laura interviewed David about his life for about an hour and a half and then we discussed our "plans". We asked her to slow the process down just a tad as it seems we could have had a little one by the end of the year. While we are eager to start our family we had expected this process to take a year and a half! Needless to say we should be travelling sometime next summer/fall! Hopefully we should be a family by the holidays (2009), something that is very exciting to think about!
